The Anti-Ballistic Missile Defense System

I've pondered on the ABMDS for over a year now... Hmm, probably been two year or three years now.It seems to me that the reason why Russia and all our other "so called friends" oppose the building of a missile defense system is that it throws the world's "mutual annihilation" understanding out of whack.I fail to understand how mutual annihilation is considered a "positive" way toward global peace. Personally I think having an anti-ballistic missile shield is a good thing, and the only people opposed to us having such a shield are people who consider themselves our enemies. But that's just my opinion.
